6 days post op numbness pins needles

To do that surgery they have removed cancer but cut nerves. You might find improvement but nerves grow at an incredibly slow rate (about 1 mm a month) and there might be areas which remain numb for ever. If you get sharp or itchy or tingling in some areas of skin, massage them daily as that will help any regrowth of nerve endings ‘find their way’. Take care with your skin whatever happens. 

Hope your post-op progress goes well, don’t forget the shoulder exercises (which I’ve been told you’ll need to continue for ever!)

The feeling under my arm never came back although the area of numbness did get smaller.

A word of warning. Sharp pains and sensations of the breast still being there are common and can be bad. They don't respond to the usual painkillers. First time round it felt like the skin under my arm was being ripped open. Contact your BC nurse and she will recommend a painkiller for nerves. Then I rang my G P who fitted me in as an emergency and prescribed the correct drugs without me going down.

As  for the exercise, I still felt tightness 20 years after my first surgery so Moomy is quite right, it is a good idea to keep going with them for much longer than you expect.I

Be kind to yourself, these things take time.
