Terrified !

Doctor Google is not your friend. That is something to learn very quickly. I think the other is that there seems to be as many different diagnosis and prognosis as there are sheep in Yorkshire. There are so many variables not only in the cancer but in the patients and everything is a contributing factor.

So all you can do is take a deep breath put your big girl pants on and wait. Let the specialists work it all out then when they are ready you will get an answer. There is little point asking anything much until they have done all the tests and had a chat. I found their vague answers because they couldn't comment until they had results very frustrating. 

Waiting is the hardest part of all this and we do a lot of waiting. Keep busy and as my friend says keep fingers ,toes and flaps crossed.

Hi Gusmum sometimes when you’ve medical qualifications, getting a cancer diagnosis really sends you into a total downward, far-too-deep spiral. But breast cancer treatment these days is so much better than it used to be, and usually tailored carefully to the individual problems found. 

I know you’re away from home right now, but the biopsy result will let you know exactly what you’re facing and will hopefully give you a treatment plan that will fit in with what you’re doing right now. 

this site can be really helpful, including an ‘AWAKE’ thread for those night times when your brain is doing too many ‘what ifs’

I am sorry you are facing this. You will have at least some of your answers on Wednesday, so please try to leave the researching alone for now. There will be plenty of time to do that when you know what you are facing. And when you are researching, please stick to trusted resources like the cancer charities and medical institutions, or proper medical research. There’s an awful lot of misinformation there and it’s easy to stumble down a rabbit hole when you are fearing the worst. This early period of waiting for information is absolutely the worst time.

I can see some positives in what you have written. The lump didn’t show 11 months ago, so I’d be on the side of thinking it’s not been there long so has likely been found early. They won’t know its characteristics until the biopsy results are back. The surgeon doesn’t think the lump and the spotting are connected and he’s more likely to be correct than not.
