What to wear after a mastectomy

I haven’t had a mastectomy but just to put another thought out there. Unobra (other brands may be available) make what look like beautiful single boobed swimwear, bikinis and lingerie. If you are prepared to embrace your asymmetry then something like that with a loose beach appropriate dress over might work? If that’s not somewhere you want to go then focus on getting the right neckline. 

I've had a doublemx. I go flat. No reconstruction no prosthetics. It's actually very liberating. No more pulling on uncomfortable bras. No bra dropped over a dinning chair.

I wear more patterns than I use to. Plain tops seem to exaggerate the lack of bumps. Ialso things that have collars or fancy sleeves. It has been good fun buying almost a whole new wardrobe tops wise. I never did wear many dresses. Next have some high neck swimsuits I've bought. I've had to carefully cut the soft cups out but they look great. One would look fab with a floaty skirt or beach wrap. The Unobra swimsuits are fabulous. 

To be honest I've never thought about what you wear its more the way that you wear it. If you feel fabulous you will look fabulous and no one will notice if you have two ,one or none. I

You'll be fine, people are too busy with their own lives to care.

I’m a uniboober. I’ve often gone out with no foob and not noticed for some time that I was out flat but it didn’t bother me.  It’s all a question of “smoke and mirrors”. Definitely try patterns, layering, scarves, floaty materials, halter neck with example front pleats. You will find something that suits and you feel comfortable in. Best wishes for your coming surgery. 

In the very, very literal sense, I am wondering what to wear in the days after a (single) mastectomy.  After the WLE plus sentinel node biopsy (first operation), I wore outsize button-up shirts over a sports bra for a couple of days.  Plus normal clothing for a cold May weather (the heatwave came later, and of course it was too soon for me to be allowed back swimming).  After the second operation, I wore a normal top and normal clothes.  

But the up-and-coming operation will be bigger and I don't know whether I will need to wear a big T-shirt or an enormous T-shirt or back to the button up shirts again... worst case scenario, I suppose a family member could pop down to a charity shop and buy a sarong that they could safety pin around me...

In the long run, I expect that I will be helped to get the hang of what type of prosthetic to get so that strangers don't think I look lop-sided.  Because the other breast is staying, I won't have the opportunity to really explore different cup sizes because of symmetry.  Not that I'm complaining exactly, just that obviously I experienced being flat-chested before puberty but this will be my first time feeling so asymmetrical.
