Hi. I'm due in hospital at 7 tomorrow morning to have a lumpectomy.

It feels silly to say this but I'm getting scared.Probably scared of the unknown. How will I feel? Will I be in pain? What will the next few days look like?

Oh well...here I go.

Good luck everyone x

  • Hi, I was the same about 15 months ago.  I was most worried about not surviving the surgery tbh   The staff laughed at me (in a kind way) and were really reassuring.  They were all lovely and every one of the team put me at ease .  I was operated on at about 11am for 2 hours (  both boobs) and was on my way home by 5pm.  I was a bit uncomfy afterwards, mainly on a night in bed, but used a soft  pillow to support my boobs-as i am a side sleeper.   Also I avoided lifting anything or stretching  out or driving for a while.  I used the little heart shaped cushion that i was given at the hospital for support during the day and whilst in the  car to prevent any jiggling.  I did feel like I had a hangover for about a week after the anaesthetic tho and I was a tad sleepy.     But honestly it was much less of a deal than I expected.  I had to go for a re-excision a few weeks later, to get a better margin-and that didnt worry me at all. I was out by lunch time.  They didnt give me gas, just the drugs-so I had no hangover type of effects that time.

Washing/bathing needed to be done carefully to keep the dressings dry

I hope all goes well for you x

  • Thank you so much.

My head is all over the place.

    That's very reassuring.

    I hope you are well.

    Thanks again Blush
