Feeling rubbish.
had lumpectomy 10th June…. No issues post surgery
needed re-excision and lymph node biopsy done on 8th July.
pain over weekend been quite a lot…. Ended up at out of hours GP on Saturday and started on clarithromycin… I4 tabs so far had 4.
However increased swelling and woke up this morning to top soaked with clear fluid and tinge red…. Felt but easier after this…. Phoned breast nurse first thing and she advised practice nurse to look and condensing etc…. So have appt this afternoon but have also had another leak whilst sitting here…. Like a gush!!
not smelly or any pus, I have a normal temperature and feel ok just a bit stressed by this and now worried this interferes with ongoing treatment.
anyone had similar symptoms? Thanks for reading.
Hi Jools161
I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum. I had the same problem after my second operation to remove lymph nodes. I ended up in hospital because I had an infection as well. My breast care nurse used a Pico dressing which for the first few days needed changing every day until eventually after just over a week I stopped leaking.
Hopefully yours will clear up soon.
Wishing you the best of luck with whatever further treatment you may need.
Best wishes

Hi
Appreciate your reply.
always reassuring to hear from others.
just don’t want to have to go into hospital if I can avoid so hoping oral antibiotics started soon enough.
fed up as after lumpectomy everything went fine and really healing was quick and now know this will likely knock further treatment back
thanks again
Better out than in. My seroma didn't start going down until Doc have me a slow puncture. Antibiotics should protect you.
Take it easy don't go mad on exercise be gentle till it stops.
Three times! What did I do?
Oh gosh really
did it eventually clear up for you?
I saw my practice nurse at lunch time and she has cleaned and dressed it and is seeing me again on Thursday
The new armpit incision is clean and well healing so it’s the re-excision point however like you say I think the antibiotics have caught it early too.
Hope you are doing fine now
I had this happen to me about three weeks after lumpectomy. I seemed to be healing nicely and was sat on the sofa one evening and my jumper was all wet, yuk! I went to MIU as it was a Bank Holiday so couldn’t call the breast care unit and they dressed it and made an appointment with the on call A&E surgeon the next day. It was redressed and I was given some antibiotics and the day after I went to see my surgeon who used a needle to remove the rest of the fluid (painless). It was all sorted very quickly and didn’t cause any ongoing problems. Hope you get sorted soon. x
