Ok head is all over the place.

Diagnosed with DCIS April 2026…

everyone been fantastic as far as treatment within NHS.

Had lumpectomy beginning June…. Went well unfortunately not clear margins…2 clear and 2 are too close however also 1 or 2 cells “just gone over” so described as micro invasion…

so now having re-incision and sentinel Node biopsy this week.

i had grade 3 DCIS so have always known radiotherapy will be recommended and im fine with that… however really hadn’t considered the micro invasion at all….. surgeon very reassuring said no cells together no mass or lumps…. But im just worried what if its in lymph nodes … really just looking for some reassurance that still If that’s the case it’s early days and treatment can be given.

I just feel everytime I’m told one thing it ends up being just something a wee bit more.

tbh want this surgery done and to get on with radiotherapy also BCN also mentioned maybe hormone therapy so been reading up on that.

im 58 and was picked up as calcifications on routine mammogram.

thanks for reading Heart

  • Hi

It does sound very early stage and I would think it unlikely it’s gone to your lymph nodes, but the sentinel node biopsy will answer that question for you. I am sorry you are facing re-excision. Unfortunately it’s quite a common occurrence but hopefully you will recover quickly from it.  Radiotherapy and hormone therapy are designed to significantly reduce the risk of recurrence.wishing you all the best.
