Hello
I had my masectomy 29th April I was discharged that evening only having 2.5 hrs recovery the following day I got up to go to the Toilet snd fainted I fell on the side of the masectomy and I’m bruised black from top to bottom
subsently I have had Hematoma back and front and side. constant trips and stays to the hospital I’m on drainage by syringe number 4 so far 2 litres
I wanted to know if anyone else has had Hematoma and how long it may take till I start to feel well again .
I know I’m only just about 3 weeks in but it seems never ending at the moment not had a chance to come to grips with the whole process.
Thank you
Hi Lookey8
Sorry to hear that your haematoma is proving so horrible to deal with. Sounds like a really miserable situation. And not helping in terms of dealing with your cancer diagnosis and mastectomy. I had a haematoma after my lumpectomy which they described as very large but doesn’t sound like it was anywhere near as bad. I’m guessing yours is particularly troublesome as it’s in so many different places. In my case, the effect was mainly to make my breast larger and very colourful, with all the bruising added to the blue dye. The clinic checked it regularly and as it was clearly resolving, albeit very slowly, they didn’t need to drain it. It did take many weeks to reabsorb though. I was anxious about what I felt was a long gap between my op and starting radiotherapy (had been told 6 weeks but was actually 10), but in the end I was glad of the extra healing time.
Sorry I haven’t got much useful information to give but my reply will bump your post back up and hopefully someone with a more similar experience will reply. Sending love and a big but very gentle virtual hug, HFxx
Thank you for taking the time to reply currently in hospital for the 4th time apparently they may drain again tomorrow?
Sorry you had to experience that also and hopefully you are recovering well and getting on with life
yes your right I did have a cry this morning I feel at the moment it’s just me but I know that’s not true .
Hopefully tomorrow the consultant has another plan . Can’t go on feeling this unwell
Have a lovely Sunday
So sorry you’re battling, it’s so tough having had a fall too…. I had a haematoma drained from my mx but the surgeon said they thought there was no need for a drain when they’d finished in theatre! Needless to say they might have erred on the safe side had they known I’d bleed! Yes I’m an oddity!
Hope they get on top of it very soon, it’s upsetting of course, cry as much as you need!
Hugs xxx
Moomy
