Anyone give up Phesgo early?

Hi i have just completed cycle 15 of Phesgo. I’m due to have three more. However I’m not sure I can cope emotionally or physically with anymore. It’s been a rough ride. I have peripheral neuropathy, permanent itching, insomnia and breathlessness, nausea, fatigue . Initially I would get an allergic reaction after each dose which was very scary. I was prescribed an EpiPen in case it happened once I’d left hospital but fortunately it never did. This time I felt very weak and a few days after the dose whilst feeling sick I collapsed with very low blood pressure. I’m seeing my oncologist next week but just wondered if anyone here made the decision to stop before dose 18?

  • Hi, I just noticed your post hasn't had any replies yet so I thought I’d just acknowledge it and by doing so it will pop it back to the top of the group so I hope someone with the right experience will be along soon.   Personally I was lucky and had no side effects from Phesgo, so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time. I hope you get some good advice from your oncologist when you see the,

     best wishes

  • Hi Africa10,

Im sorry you’re having bad side effects!

I ended up only having 9 because they put me on the Radical trial. They said the reason being that they tend to over prescribe Phesgo.

It does depend on the type of cancer though from what they said. I had primary triple positive with complete response to treatment so I think that’s why as I’m slightly lower risk of recurrence (I hope!)

Maybe it’s worth asking if you can have a break if they want you to have the full 18?

I hope they listen to you!
Always speak up and listen to your body, if it’s getting too much.
