Hi all, new on here. I have triple positive breast cancer and am having chemo every week, had my third today and am noticing my hair is starting to fall out. I have accepted I will lose my hair but just wondering when to shave it off and how everyone did it.
did a friend do it for you? My husband is refusing to do it and wants me to go to the hairdressers
also when should I shave it off? It currently just looks lifeless and very thin
thanks
My husband shaved mine off. He's from Yorkshire and won't pay for something he can do himself. We did it because I was trying to cook and bake and ended up with double quantities because of my hair falling in it. Hair everywhere was becoming a nightmare, on my clothes, on furniture and in the car.
He does his his own with clippers so it was easy. After a few weeks we did it again because it was a bit tufty. Chemo went September to march. I wore scarves tied like turbans. I've stopped that now. My hair is growing, very grey but growing. Besides which after double x and full node clearance I couldn't tie my scarves. Now I don't care. I'm thinking of sticking at this length!! Saved a fortune in hair products and hairdressers.
Three times! What did I do?
Hello. I have triple negative hormonal BC. I’ve just finished Nov-Apr chemo and my hair started falling out on week 3. I cut my long hair into a bob on w3. On w4 I got a “bixie” cut. That was on the Monday, by the Friday my husband had to clipper it very short as it was falling out. If this isn’t an option, I would find a local hairdresser you like / trust and explain. Get them to help you through the different stages. Hope this helps x
Hi there, I had mine shaved off at the hairdresser ( kept it to a number 4 ) I think . I found it such a relief as the thought and worry about my shoulder length hair falling out - was causing me so much worry . I also found the stress around all the being extra careful when brushin
etc and waking up every day to all the what ifs - made it even worse . I miss my hair ( it is now growing back) but if I had my time again I would have it cut very short right from the start . That’
only my take and I have spoken to some people that the hair falling out didn’t seem to upset them as much as it did me .Good luck with your treatment - it’s a great feeling when it comes to an end -
nd it will
