How should I feel after a Bilateral mastectomy, full node clearance and 5 months of chemo?

How should I feel physically? Mentally I'm pretty good considering. My body however feels battered. I'm give and a half weeks from surgery.

There is a tight band running across my chest. It feels like I have a bra on. The side without the node clearance isn't too bad. I have a good range of movement and I can reach to get most things I need. The left side is not so great. They've been taking fluid from that side for four weeks. It has settled now but I think I could still full an A cup at that side. It is quite firm. Movement obviously at that side is more limited. I can drive, I actually prefer it to being a passenger as gripping the steering wheel stops the jolts from potholes.

I managed to hang washing on the line today. The question is should I have been doing that? Do you remember the old days? After a hysterectomy you were told not to lift anything heavier than the kettle for six weeks. When I had my first baby I was in hospital 10 days. A week after that the doctor told me I could walk round to the local newsagents but I couldn't take the pram.

Really am I expecting too much? I don't remember pain like this from my first node clearance, but I didn't have a very wavy scar running across my chest more than 30 cms long that time either. Am I taking too many paracetomols, with the result I'm sleeping for England. Should I grit my teeth and breath it away or stop doing anything so I don't need the drugs?

Is anyone out there in the same state as me after their surgery, after chemo. Is everyone else Spring cleaning or sitting with t rex arms wincing as they peel a grape?

Now I will try to get comfy to go to sleep. Night all.
