Hello.
Before my diagnosis in December I swam about 2 or 3 times a week. I had my mastectomy in January and now on Letrozole & Ribociclib. I want to get back to swimming so I ordered my post surgery swimsuit which arrived last week.
My question is …. what prosthesis do you ladies use please? I have my one that was given to me for normal use but I feel this might be a bit heavy for swimming.
I then need to pick up the courage to go again!

I haven’t had a mastectomy myself but a friend of mine uses a Boost breast form. They are a lightweight open shape and can be used for swimming, or indeed anything.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission
I've had a double mx. Before I knew that was happening Id decided to go with the Boost. Some of the sponge ones apparently Gary at the first dunking? Obvious really they are full of air.
As it is now I'm going flat. Found two " normal" suits that look fine.
I went out for lunch on Friday, hairless and boobless. Nobody noticed , nobody cared. besides I was too busy having a laugh to bother. I do Aqua fit regularly or did, can't wait to go back. I don't think my friends there will care either.

If you’re not sure about what way to go, there’s a charity called ‘knitted knickers’ who produce swim prostheses free of charge. They are constructed of the nylon mesh stuff that was/is used in shower ‘scrunchies’ and covered in a crochet/knitted shaped cover. They do tend to float a bit but inside a cossie pocket are fine, and dry quickly. I think all I needed to do was send my size, got one quite quickly.

Thank you all very much for your suggestions. I will have a look.
Silverberg I admire you going hairless and boobless. I’m not brave enough to go swimming with one boob - perhaps I will one day xx
It isn’t the same loosing one. I think it would be more obvious. In theory they took my left one so I’d be symmetrical. They actually found pre cancer cells in it. So I’m glad I stood my ground. I jt look like a rather flat apple shaped person. I use to be hourglass!! I’d never have kept control over two prosthetics, I had enough trouble with on.
