Drug holiday

So 18 months ago I was diagnosed with DCIS oestrogen positive breast cancer. Two surgeries to get a clear margin and sentinel note out +5 days of radiotherapy. Consider myself lucky that it was only Stage one, knocking on the door of stage two. Picked up by press screening.
i’ve been on 1mg of Anastrazole for 17months. Horrible side effects; joint pain, gut issues, skin itching, fatigue mainly. To be honest, any other symptom that arises, i’m told it’s probably another side-effect.
Naturally, I’m being told to take a six week holiday if I want some relief and to separate what is and isn’t side effects. Initially, I was terrified of doing this as I felt I need to persevere to give myself the best chance of the cancer not returning. However, I hear more more that some people weigh up quality of life with the drug and either stop it or certainly take regular holidays. Just wondering if anybody else has experience of thisPray

  • i had a brand that had horrid side effect w letrozole. onco said take a break, then put me on anastrazole, less side effects still achy but seems better, ask onco about brands (it does make a diff) or options
