Morning,
having thought was on a surgery/radiotherapy pathway found out Monday, post surgery, that need chemo too - gutted. Grateful of any top tips ahead of starting in 2 weeks! Thank you :)
This is a good thing as they must think it's the very best chance of getting it all. It's scary I know but you're really not alone. Chemo days at the hospital are actually weirdly pleasant. The oncology nurses are amazing and the people you meet. Wear your comfies, take your phone or a book or whatever will help pass the time. It's long and therefore you can get bored
You will have days where you feel like your absolute self. You will laugh, dance, cook. It's a journey and there will be hard days but there is an end to it. I'm on treatment 5 of 6 right now and remember not knowing what to expect. You will get through this. Practical tips: lip balm, ice lollies, eat what your body needs to get through, try to move when you can, plain shampoos and creams. A list of Netflix series or films you want to watch you'll have the time. Put no expectations on yourself. I wish you the very best
Hi SIS
I used All my normal skincare and make up during chemo. I liked scarves tied as turbans and bright lippy. I ate what I normally are most of the time although I did use more chilli in stuff.no alcohol and didn't miss it. 0% Guines S is pretty good option. I kept my nails on until I had surgery 2 days ago and I have an appointment to have them back on in five days.
I did most of the things I normally do but I had less energy . The worst thing was not seeing my granddaughters because they were snotty or sick. Weirdly my arthritis improved!
You'll be fine.
Three times! What did I do?
get sour candies to chew on, avoid eating favourite foods if you feel ill, but eat what you can
i love curry, couldnt stand pizza or pasta fresh food is best
ask for the best anti nausea meds you can get and stay ahead of any nausea you may get it is easier to keep away than chase away.
buy some nose goo for later, in case, and always tell your team if you feel really unwell, you are not a burdenm it is their job to get you through this.
but as Raytay says mostly we are ok, and live our livesi. the inbetween, try to go outside and walk some,(i spent too much time sitting i think because it was easy)
also buy some good waterbased moisturiser or jojoba oil, i used it because chemo dries us out. also get some sports drinks because sometimes better than water.

loving the nails - was one of my questions pre-surgery if I could have my toes done at least! Do I need to take gel off hands for chemo? Hope you recovering well :)
