Weight gain

Just been to see my doctor hoping there might be other options to help with the weight gain since being on tamoxifen and letrozole. I have at least another 5 years on it. Im a personal trainer and have nutrition knowledge, but stats show im clinical obse which they tell us is another risk for recurrence. Nothing to help but could send me to a healthy advice clinic which the doctor said im already doing so no point. I can control my food so dont need jabs but wondered if anyone had found a better way of approaching this issue or taken a supplement that's safe for estrogen positive and her2 previous breast cancer x

  • Hi

Totally get this!  I had a great figure prior to oestrogen positive breast cancer (nearly 9 years ago) - now I feel like a blob!  However, I think this is also just part of getting older and because we have had the tablets it's happened quicker so we notice it much more.

My friend was always very, very slim and she does dancing in competition at Blackpool - she looks amazing (grrr, lol) but even she says that she does find it harder.  We're both 60 now.  I've also given up smoking in the last 6 months, so that hasn't helped - now I am concentrating on eating properly and hopefully exercise will reduce the wobbles.

No advice, just empathy from being in the same situation, from me. x

  • Hello!

I’m also gaining weight despite eating healthily (maybe a few snacks) and I am active (Not a gym bunny but I do run and reformers).
I was a size 10 before I started treatment. I’ve been on Tamoxifen for just 3 months and have noticed my clothes getting tighter and some not fitting at all. I have to buy size 12 now.
It’s really getting to me. I’ve always been slim and could lose weight easily. I know it’s also down to getting older and having to go through the menopause  but I really, REALLY don’t want to put on anymore weight Weary

I know people say to embrace your body but I’m not ready!

  • I’m only 43!
