Hello everyone. Whenever I am in a state of anxiety I always come here to chat to you all.

So I like to do a lot of research these days. I am a little worried that I was/have never been treated for the PR negative element of my tumour and now I’m worried sick it will come back. Was anyone else PR negative, ER positive, HER 2 negative?

The oncologists, breast care nurses never spoke about that to me and now I think it’s because I was a nervous wreck they didn’t want to worry me.

Letrozole is for the estrogen positive element and Abemaciclib is for the HER2 negative element.

I’m so worried now.

  • Please try not to worry. My understanding is that targeted cancer treatment targets the things your cancer has, not the things it doesn’t have. You are being given oestrogen blockers because your cancer has oestrogen receptors, and you are being given CDK inhibitors because these are also helpful in stopping your type of cancer from coming back. I don’t have this type of breast cancer but it’s the most common type and you are on the standard treatment, as far as I can tell. There isn’t something else to give you for being progesterone negative.

  • Hi

I was never told anything re my tumour’s PR status so I’ve assumed it’s negative ie no receptors. It was 8/8 for ER and like yours, HER2 negative. So I had a wide local excision, radiotherapy and Anastrozole. I’ve finished 7 years of Anastrozole and am so far NED (no evidence of disease). Hope that helps. It’s such a minefield, trying to understand and interpret our diagnoses and treatments. Love and hugs, HFxx
