Hi, I’m currently taking chewable calcium and vitamin D tablets after dexa scan showed osteoporosis in hip and general osteopenia. I’m aching after weekly alendronic acid tablet and wondering if others have had a similar experience? Also I’m finding the chewable calcium tablets horribly sweet and will ask Dr for an unsweetened alternative! Thanks

  • Hi, sorry I can’t comment on the alendronic acid tablets, but I did want to say that I couldn’t stand the chewy calcium tablets and I use the non chewable ones from Boots that come as Calcium plus Vit D. I find these much more tolerable.  Good luck with your ongoing treatment, best wishes

  • Hi Lilwelsh I have bone aches in my whole body this morning I feel 100 Grin.  I take Adcal caplets , I was on the chewable ones but found the ones that you can just swallow much easier.  I have these on prescription.

  • Thanks for your reply. They’re calcium with VitD, so I’ll go back to the Dr or to Boots and get the same dose hopefully, or separate tablets maybe. Take care x

  • Thanks Leelaloo - I haven’t heard of Adcal but will ask my GP about them. Sorry to hear about your aches - after going through bc treatment we need a break I think! Take care xx
