Hi, I ve completed my radiotherapy and am on Tamoxifen for 5 years, side effects are beginning to settle down on and off so now looking at keeping myself active to help manage joint pain, tiredness. Someone mentioned or I may have imagined it but do Macmillan have a exercise programme?
Yes there’s a free 12 week exercise programme at local leisure centres and if you have any pure gyms near you they offer free membership if you are on cancer rehabilitation. You need a referral from MacMillan for the leisure centres 12 week programme.
Hi. Our local authority run an exercise class at the local sports centre to people having treatment for it are recovering from cancer. I went using my KAL membership but you can have 12 free classes if refered by a doctor.
I've mentioned this before but Aqua fit and Aquamed are a great form of exercise. I've just gone back between chemo and surgery. I have arthritis, thank you tamoxifen, and it's much easier on the joints. It good fun too. I hadn't been fitter in my life. I pay £22 a month and I was doing 3 classes a week. Cost a fortune on swimsuits but that's another story.
Three times! What did I do?
If you are near a Maggies Centre they also have a programme of classes, both virtual and f2f.
