Finishing Abemaciclib end of April, would like to know if I might expect to feel better…

So I’m near the end of my 2 year prescription. Luckily for me the big diarrhoea and abdominal pain settled a couple of weeks after I had begun to feel there was no way I could possibly cope much longer.

I’ve had a lot of draggy symptoms, infections and tiredness but have stayed on the full dose as the oncologist has said that my blood tests haven't  warranted a reduction. I began to feel that I might benefit from a dose reduction about 6 months ago.. I’ve accepted her advice as I might as well do the best I can to get the full benefit from this drug.

Anyway the end is in sight and when I started the pills I’d been on letrozole for nearly 5 months and it hadn’t particularly affected me, barring a few reminders of menopausal hot flushes. I’d appreciate hearing the experience of people who’ve finished their prescriptions. I will be staying on the letrozole longer and once I’m just down to that drug I suppose I will at least know what to blame!

  • Hi, I’m only on 50 mg dose as the runs plus the lack of motivation really got me down. I’ve got till September still, but have had a few hiccups with infections or other reasons to have time off. But only ever a week off at a time. Will have three years longer on Exemestane.

Hope you find improvement once the Abemaciclib is out of your system. I did get a bit of improvement on my weeks off in my mental state, I have to say….

  • Well mental state improvement will be something! I’m a bit dragged down for sure.. I’ll be 3 years more on the letrozole and for sure I can’t tell if some of the symptoms have been down to it- there is a bit of an intersection..

    All the best Moomy, xx
