I am on anastrole almost 6 years now and another 1 to go. I am experiencing really bad fatigue all of a sudden and a lot of depression. I just feel something is wrong. I spoke to my oncologist on Monday but she put it down to Anastrole and said to persevere with it. But I feel there is something wrong and maybe I have cancer again I just don't feel right in my body and why would I experience this low mood and fatigue all of a sudden?? Anyone else been through this ?? Thanks

  • Hi Val.

I was on Tamoxifen and hit a wall in year 5 the first time round.

It is a pet rant I have on a regular basis recently echoed and agreed with by my ontology consultant.

We are told that after 5 years of BC hasn't come back we are clear, cured. However NOBODY says you will be back to how you were before BC. We all seem to assume it though. Sadly it is just not the case. WE ARE NEVER THE SAME AGAIN PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY.

You need support. Talk to your GP, your BC nurse, McMillan anyone and everyone until you feel someone is listening and checking you are as well as you can be physically and mentally. We go through a huge pile of sh¥t and without us noticing it takes our strength and leaves us at the other side wrecked.

If nothing else get someone to crunch the numbers. Tamoxifen destroyed me but for 17% protection maybe it was worth it. Round two it was just 1% . Definitely not worth it. Are the side effects for one more year worth it?

    Sending hugs and some understanding.

Three times! What did I do?

  • Hi there, I do believe we know ourselves best so I'd really recommend you have a chat with your GP and see what they recommend, sadly sometimes we do have to advocate for ourselves.   Best wishes
