I had my first ZA yesterday and to say I’m feeling crap today is an understatement.

Raging headache, tired, stiff.

Did anyone else have this and how long did it last? I just want to cry.

Chemo was a walk in the park compared to this and Abemaciclib.

  • Hi Sparkle, I felt like I had flu symptoms for 24 hours after my first one. No symptoms at all after the rest - I’m now finished all of mine.

From what I’ve read this is pretty common - first one you feel rough, the rest not a problem.

Hopefully you will be the same and should feel much better soon.

    Take care.

    Gillie

  • Yeah I have read that the first can make you feel a bit fluey but subsequent ones are not a problem. I have had 2 and have been fine after both.

  • Thank you for responding, I went to bed early with a headache but been feeling much better today, not 100% but better. That was awful Cry

  • I had my Zoldronic acid with my second cycle of chemotherapy so didn't really know which side effects were from what.

My second one was agony,  I had very painful fidgety legs which kept me awake all night as I just couldn't get comfy, the following day I was still very uncomfortable and fidgety,  just had to keep walking about.

I spoke to my oncologist and she confirmed that it is "nasty stuff" and to dose myself up with paracetamol before my next treatment and carry on taking it every 4 hours.

  • Thanks for that tip re the paracetamol I’ll be sure to remember that for next time. I spent most of the day in bed feeling dreadful. Never had even one day in bed during 12 sessions of chemo so it was clearly very bad.

  • Like you I had my first zoledronic acid with my 2nd EC infusion, so couldn’t really sense much difference / felt bad anyway. I’ve had 4 more and they’ve all given me flu-ish headache and aches starting about 12 hours after and lasting a further 24-36 hours. I’ve got my final one on Jan 8th and know to have a quiet day following it. Definitely glad it’ll be my last one! xx

  • Well done for making it through 3 years of it, it’s not easy.
