So surgery happened yesterday.

Nine hour wait time, then another six hours in total for the surgery, recovery and observations. I was so dehydrated by the time I got in there, I barely had any veins available for the cannula! Everybody who looked after me throughout my 15 hours at the hospital were absolutely amazing as were the other women on the ward who freely shared their own journeys as we waited.

I'm sore and tired, but happy that the lump is gone and my surgeon is now the proud owner of five of my lymph nodes which are going to tell us what happens next.

But for now, it's chill time.

  • Well done MsC.

Now give yourself time. Today was the easy day. Take the pain relief, movement is important. Stick to lifting teaspoons for the next few days.

    Very gentle hugs.

Three times! What did I do?

  • Glad it’s done, rest up now and be kind to yourself (but tomorrow start those exercises!)

  • Thank you both so much! I'm actually enjoying taking my time doing things for a change and yes, , I'll definitely be "winging it" today. Smile

  • Morning

Having a catch up on the site. How are you doing. I hope you still being kind to yourself, except when doing those exercises. They are very important. Even now 17 years on things can go a bit tight and I find myself going back to them. Although I had no issues when I was doing Aquafit. I can recommend this as a great activity once healed. It was great for the lymphedema too.

Have a great Christmas, 2 more sleeps.

Three times! What did I do?

  • Hi there

    Thanks for checking in!

I'm actually finding it a lot easier than I thought it would be to be honest. I'm off the opioids today and just using paracetamol, although I'm keeping the rest of my supply of the hard stuff as a back up.

The exercises are getting easier, although most of the tightness I'm experiencing is across the front of the chest and I'm finding the "winging it" exercise a bit more difficult than the rest so that probably means that's the one I need to really concentrate on doing properly!

I have some quite interesting purple-red bruising that, even though I have a horizontal incision across the upper outer quadrant, trails from the incision down to the bottom of the breast and appears to be settling there. No pain or swelling there though so I'm assuming this is probably just gravity.

Aquafit sounds really fun and I'll definitely be looking into that and other exercise in the New Year. This has definitely given me a bit of a kick up the bum to look after myself a bit better, but for now, mince pies!

    Have a fab Christmas x
