Hi. I have an appointment for the 19th Dec to start my first Zoldronic acids infusion. Think like most of you this will be every 6 months for 3 years.
I currently take letrozole once a day with a once a day vitamin d and calcium supplement. A letter came through yesterday telling me about the infusion and it said calcium levels must remain high and I just take the vit d and calcium supplement twice a day after first infusion.
Has anyone else had this recommendation too?
I get prescribed with calcichew d3 for a month after the 6- monthly Zolendronic acid infusion. I’m on Abemaciclib and Exemestane as well. But I’ve read that vitamin k and magnesium are also helpful to ensure the best result so take a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement at the same time. Due to the Abemaciclib I have regular blood tests and levels have always been good.

I told my surgeon about the added vitamins etc that I take and she was fine about it.

Hi, I wasn't told to double the dose, but if you're unsure, give the lovely people here at Macmillan a call on 0800 808 0000 for some advice.
And just a heads up. My first zoledronic acid…..I felt I'd been hit by a bus! Like the flu but worse, it knocked me for six for about 24 hours. Weirdly, very one since I've been fine. Best wishes
Thank you I might do that.
Oh really I have heard of people suffering with bad flu like symptoms. I hope I don’t suffer for too long as my appointment is not long before Xmas
Don't forget to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated before and after your infusion.
Have you been given a form for your dentist to fill in saying that your teeth are in good order?

Thank you for the tip. Yes I’ve had my dentist form signed.
I’ve felt absolutely fine after my infusions….had 4 now I think.
I was asked about dentist (I’m in Denplan anyway) and oddly I’d had a check up just the previous day and all was fine.Dentist just said ‘oh, ok’ when I told her.

I’m due my 6th infusion in January. I’ve felt a bit achey and fluish each time, but fine in 36 hours.
Lots of people feel it for the 1st one, but then nothing for the others…
All the best xx
