Been taking Veoza (private prescription) for just over 4 weeks and it's made a huge difference to hot flushes. I just had liver function test back and serum ALT level is high (105). I think my oncologist will tell me to come off it but I want to see if it settles on its own. Anyone else had dodgy liver function results on Veoza?
Hi, I can’t answer your question but if you are still having chemo you should tell your oncologist, definitely. Veoza themselves do not recommend you take it while on chemo too, they make it clear it’s not included in their clinical studies and tell you not to take it while on chemotherapy. All the best x
My alt went up into the sixties while I was on paclitaxel for 12 weeks. Oncologist was quite relaxed about it, but I needed blood thinner for a clot acquired from a cannula infusion and the haematology dept said I’d have to carry on with injections rather than pills because of alt level. I researched “foods to lower alt” and slanted my diet to the fruit and veg there. I was pleased that coffee was considered helpful as if I’d stayed ignorant I would have assumed I’d have to stop it! Anyway I was already ok for avoiding too much dairy fat and salty nuts and meats, but bought and ate a lot of broccoli as it was easy to just have in the fridge and blueberries fresh and frozen. I did eat other fruit/veg but they were easy for me to always have handy and high on the helpful list. I don’t take vitamin supplements as I believe anyway that they can stress liver and kidneys..
My levels came back to normal range before I’d finished the paclitaxel - I wasn’t drinking alcohol at the time either as I had a sore mouth from the weekly infusions.
Oncologist did say that the liver is very good at repairing itself and can come back from alt levels of several hundred given a chance
I’m not on Veoza, but have got my eye on it for after I’ve done with the abemaciclib beginning of May 2026….
All the very best.
