I have started to get stabbing pains that cause issues with breathing in my breast that had lumpectomy in April 2022, chemo and radio completed December 2022. Anyone else have similar?

  • Yep.

It feels like some one is sticking a needle into me. I call it my voodoo lady pain. When I mentioned it to the surgeon 17 years ago he responded " But you are alive? ". His suggestion was to massage it. I was never quite sure how a class of 30 Primary School children would respond to me massaging my right breast part way through a lesson! It still happens occasionally even now, having retired I can massage to my hearts content.

Does it actually interfere with your breathing or take your breath away at the sharpness and intensity?I assumed mine was caused by nerve damage either from the surgery or radiotherapy. I didn't get it at the other side. I didn't get an infection in the left side though.

Get it checked out. I'm sure if you ring on here they will give you guidance who to contact. Things have changed. Back then I was still seeing either the surgeon or the oncologist regularly until the five years was up.

Meanwhile massage does work, and putting pressure on the area, taking deep breaths. Recently a Doctor said "Radiotherapy the gift that keeps on giving!.

Hugs and sympathy. Make sure you get peace of mind and get it checked.

Three times! What did I do?
