I have just received a letter from my GP inviting me to go to the surgery and get my Flu / Covid vaccinations as I am apparently immunocompromised. (I was diagnosed with Cancer earlier this year, so this is the first time I have received one of these invites). My Cancer was early stage and treatment was a lumpectomy/lymph node biopsy, radiotherapy and Anastrozole prescribed for 5 years, so how compromised is my immune system likely to be ? I have taken the flu vaccine in past years, as I worked for the health service, so I have no concerns about getting this.
My main concern is the Covid booster, given the recent highlighting of South Korean research results indicating an increase in Cancers in people who have been Covid vaccinated. Me being one of those of these people, eg I had the Covid vaccine as advised during the covid outbreak and I have developed Cancer. Up until now I never made a connection. However, if the research is correct and there is a link, am I putting myself at further risk by getting a Covid booster ???
I have just 1 week to make up my mind ! Anyone out there having the same decision to make ? What are your thoughts ?
This Korean study is deeply flawed and has been widely discredited. If you google it you should find out a bit more which may put your mind at rest. As you know, any vaccine can carry a risk though so it’s a personal decision. If it helps I am immunocompromised because of RA meds and have had more Covid boosters and flu jabs than I can count, including both today x
I understand. It a devil and hard place situation, I was listening to people calling in to LBC today talking about long covid which is still very much a thing and this man had been bedridden for 3 years with no help from anyone and there was call after call about the same kind of situation. Sometimes you have to just deal with what’s in front of you and go with that, you can’t preempt what life will throw at you. All the best to you, I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for you xx
Hi I’m with you on that I had to have the Covid vaccine or loose my job I work for nhs , so had it 10 days later I had a stroke and march this year got cancer my neighbour had the Covid vaccine and also had a stroke … I was in a study at work and after I had spoke to the girls they said a lot had strokes after the vacine .. so I know what I won’t be having I’ve also been advised to but my preference is I will not have anything else … but you have to go by what you want wish you the best in your decision x
Hi
Just to say do what feels right for you. I had my yearly flu jab on Thursday; I have asthma so always get one. I have been offered a Covid vaccine but have declined the request. I just don’t feel happy about it.
Thank you for your reply.
I was influenced by the fact that the doctor sent me this letter which convinced me I should get it, until I saw the alarming findings of the Korean research. Your experiences make me even more cautious now.
I respect Anna’s concerns about long COVID, (A young family member and indeed my own GP were affected by it).
I just can’t get the thought out of my head that I might have caused my cancer by taking the covid vaccine.
I know there is no point in talking to my GP, as it was she who sent the letter, so I know what her advice will be.
Thank you for your reply Louis, I am starting to think that this is what I should do too. I follow Dr John on YouTube (an English nurse), he, like me, took the vaccine during the COVID outbreak and was glad to get it, but now has serious reservations.
I caught Covid prior to the availability of vaccinations and social distancing. I have long term health issues as a result and never want to risk catching it again.
As to having cancer and strokes after the vaccinations those can also occur regardless of vaccination.
Almost no one in the U.K. has polio and ends up disabled now … why? Because of immunisation
it’s a personal decision but remember some of the published so called research led Trump to declare injecting bleach might be the answer to Covid. So don’t believe everything you read on social media!
Hi lovely, I think you should definitely speak to your Dr about your worry because they will be able to put your mind at rest about the other resource, I spoke to my partner about the Korean result ( he's the kind of person who digs deep into things like this) and he's says it not worth the paper it's written on. But ask as many professionals as you can. To put your mind at rest. Please stop thinking you gave yourself cancer. Sending big hugs and support.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
