I have my first mammogram after wide local excision & 5 fractions of radiotherapy. Was told all was clear at beginning of June so I know I’ve been very lucky but I’m still scared about today
I know that feeling well! I am sure it'll be fine. I was 100% convinced that mine would be back that I refused to book a holiday until I knew I was 'safe' - as it was at that time, the nurse doing the mammogram told me that it was good news as soon as she'd done it. (They're not allowed to do that now). But when I thought about it, we've had the WLE, radiotherapy and for me, tablets - all to prevent it coming back, so we would have to be VERY unlucky to have it come back on the 1st mammogram so soon after all this treatment!
As it is, I'm over 8 years post diagnosis now and back onto 3 yearly mammograms. My next one is June 2026 - now that one, I'll be more worried about, having not been checked for the last 2 years.
Good luck and I'm sure you'll be fine
Best wishes, Lesley
