Hello. Radiotherapy is about to start soon and it has just occurred to me, can I wear jewellery? Can I wear my wig?

  • You should be okay with wig. Not sure about jewellery. Maybe remove. You’re not in there for long - I had a weeks worth and like when you get in there it’s 10 mins max id say xx

  • Hiya,I had 15 sessions last July/Aug and as my hair was still really short I was making the most of showing off my earrings .I didn't have to take them out as the radiographer said they were not at the area being treated.Same with rings ,I didn't have to remove them .I didn't wear any necklaces though ,to save taking them off before treatment .I can't see any problem with you wearing your wig for treatment as you lie on your back with your arms up above your head

  • I was fine with earrings, rings, watch, and choker type of necklace-as the radiotherapists said it wasnt near to where the treatment would be.

  • Currently on day 2 of 9 sessions. Earrings, watch are fine but I do have to take my necklace off for treatment.

I was so scared yesterday for 1st session but I came out wondering why I had been so worried. It was fine and radiographers were lovely and friendly. Same again today, everyone was friendly and professional.

You will be fine, honestly x

  • Yes the sessions aren't anything to worry about. I had 5, and started feeling tired a  couple of hours after the last one, and it was a bit tender afterwards until a few days ago. I was working throughout and since, finished 3 weeks ago and the tiredness is subsiding, and no problems with my skin, but have religiously been  applying flamigel and latterly aloe vera gel.  I was really worried about after effects, but fingers still crossed and all is good.

None of the whole process has been what I feared. Im sure you will be just fine x

  • Thank you, I’m scared too, planning scan next Tuesday then guess I’ll start a week or two after.

  • The planning scan is the longest, but the sessions themselves are only about 5 minutes, and don't hurt at all x

  • Did they give you the cream or did you buy it before radiotherapy started

  • I had planning scan yesterday only took 20 mins. Radiotherapy starts 1/9 for 9 days

  • I wasn’t given any cream just told they recommend aveeno x
