Kadcyla

Daughter had 14 cycles of Kadcyla after her initial 8 chemos, 3 surgeries and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. 

It was manageable. It wasn't the walk in the park oncologists will try to have you believe but it wasn't as tough as earlier chemo. Some nausea, but daughter found ways to cope - it didn't lay her as low as EC did. Digestive issues were also managed with meds. Tiredness was cumulative, she was back at work by then but only managing about three days a week.

Biggest problem was peripheral neuropathy. Feet much worse than hands. Gabapentin kept it to a just about bearable level. She did consider stopping after 12 cycles because of the neuropathy but (daughter is medical) had done a lot of research and felt 14 cycles was the optimal number. She finished in February. So much better now - strength returning, much less tired. Neuropathy still there, still on Gabapentin. Very much hoping it will eventually improve and she will be able to come off the drug. But she has no regrets about Kadcyla, is sure that, if recommended for you, it's the best option.
