Hi all. I’m 35 and was diagnosed with TNBC in feb this year. I had a 2.4cm lump in the lower inner quadrant. I’ve just finished chemo and will have surgery next month. I’m looking for positive stories from people diagnosed with lower inner quadrant tnbc please who have had NAC. I’ve been reading up about the poor prognosis of lower inner quadrant tumours and it absolutely terrifies me. My surgeon is saying that they don’t check the internal mammory nodes apart from on scans which again really concerns me. I was just wondering if there’s anyone else with the same tumor location with a positive outcome.

  • Hello,

I didn't have the tumour in the Lower Inner Quadrant but I did have TNBC. I was able to have a lumpectomy, then chemo and radiotherapy. A PET scan after the lumpectomy showed the cancer had been removed. That was in 2015.

If you have been googling your tumour  there are often scary errors.  I know I was advised to stay away from the internet. If you are really worried, I think you should tell your surgeon and see what  he/she has to say. I don't understand why the position of the tumour makes a difference to the outcome. Are they suggesting it is an awkward place to remove the tumour from? In which case I would have thought the surgeon would offer a mastectomy.  If he hasn't,  I don't think the surgeon can be concerned.

Sorry, I can't be more helpful about your situation but I hope it helps to know I have been clear of cancer for 10 years.

I hope the op goes well. Love Karen
