Hi all. Looking after my Mum with breast cancer and Alzheimer’s. Treatment is palliative, stage 4 and not curable.
We got a call today to rearrange her next appointment as her consultant wants to see her and is away when appointment was due. I appreciate that doesn’t sound sinister but we have seen registrars/nurses at outpatients for last 9 months and suddenly the consultant is adamant the appointment is with her. For context we are also waiting on mri results. I am already catastrophizing - am I right to expect bad news?
Do be brutally honest as I would rather be prepared
Be kind to yourself, try to think positive….. it’s a difficult situation for all. Sending love and hugs

Hello, I would also be catastrophising but trying to be objective 1) they may be aware that all your appts. have been with others and feel they should see you, 2) if it was serious they would be bringing your appt forward asap etc., 3) it might be protocol to see consultant after scans to discuss results 4) I don’t think medical staff always think through the impact of decisions they make and expect there are other logical reasons too. However, of course it’s also possible that there is a more serious reason too. Can you call the BCN for a heads up on the results?
X
Hi, I have always had scan results from my consultant, not anyone else. Might be worth asking if this is their protocol, as bobof suggests. Best wishes
