  • Hi, I'm one of the champions here in this group and I just wanted to acknowledge your post.  It's good that you are getting things checked out by the GP and I hope you get some answers and clarity soon. Best wishes

  • Hi Webb

Sorry to hear you're worried about liver results - hope you're managing to enjoy your holiday.  Just wanted to say not quite the same but I'm on letrozole and my kidney function is lowered at the minute.  I believe letrozole can do this, but it is worrying me sick.  I think these are very strong drugs and fluctuations happen.  Hope your repeat bloods are back to normal when you get them re-done x

  • Hi

I didn't have any issues (that I am aware of!), but "Yes, anastrozole can potentially affect liver function, though this is usually mild and reversible" this is what comes up when I search regarding the liver and Anastrozole.  So, I am guessing when you have finished the next 3 years, the effects will start to reverse.

As you say, you're not one for eating healthy, it might be worth improving a little: ."A healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, while limiting processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats, can significantly benefit your liver. Regular physical activity, even 30 minutes a day, and reducing or eliminating alcohol intake are also crucial steps."  - you can only improve, even if it's only a bit better that what you're doing at the moment - you don't have to do everything immediately.    Quite often, doing things bit by bit doesn't feel like you have to give up / change your whole life.

    Kindest wishes, Lesley

  • Hello.  Ive been on anastrazole for 7 years and I too have a fatty liver.  I have my bloods taken every year by the GP and it shows my liver function just over the range. I have put weight on around my stomach which obviously doesn’t help but I have been given the go ahead to take anastrazole for another 3 years as I am terrified of the cancer returning.  Hope your repeat bloods results will be better.

  • Hi Webb,  I totally get where you are coming from.  I had so many bad side effects on anastrazole that I stopped taking it after 5 years, should have been on them for 10 years.  It was effecting the quality of my life and it was a decision I made, rightly or wrongly.  Good luck.
