Hi you lovely lot, it's been a while since I last posted! I am 1 year post radiotherapy, after having 2 surgeries and 6 months of chemotherapy. I am currently clear os of my 1 year mammogram.... so far so good!
As for getting back to the 'old me' - I am not sure if that is a possibility or whether I will have to get used to the new me, which is lacking in energy and 3 stone overweight.
I have asked my onco specialist nurse if I may be able to start using a weightloss injection along with the current preventative meds I am on - cycle 12/13 (out of 24) of Abemaciclib and Letrozole for 5 years (possibly 10) She said she will check with the pharmacy, or go straight to the manufacturer if the pharmacy didn't know the answer.
Does anyone here know the potential answer, or maybe have experience of this?
I know being overweight isnt a huge thing considering what I / we have been through, but it is important for me in trying to become a version of myself that I recognise, not withstanding the effect the extra weight has on my already bad back and bad knee.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience or thoughts on this!
Take care all

Hi Hartley , I’d be interested to know too, though my increased weight (and bulk!) is purely abdominal, (yup, a big gut!)
I had a recurrence of my supposedly low risk bc last year, it sneaked behind the implant I’d had in 2018. I’d just had a mx plus 5 years of hormone drugs, 3 of Letrozole and 2 of tamoxifen as I’d got osteopenia already, and tamoxifen is kinder to the bones. They now consider that had failed me. So now I’m flat (hate it) and had rads plus Abemaciclib since October last year and Exemestane for 5 years. The weight I lost in my year off had improved my middle but it’s sneaked back there although I’m managing still to keep most of the weight off, I’m not gradually losing as I was.

I have just had an email from my onco nurse, who has asked my consultant and she has said, not a lot is known about the weight loss drugs but she doesn't see why not as long as the prescriber checks for cointradictions. So it sounds a possibility. I had accepted the idea that I would need to purchase it privately as I thought the drug was initially being rolled out on the NHS for diabetics etc. But my onco nurse seems to think I should be eligible for a prescription. She is going to check with the manufacturer company directly to see if they say it is safe for me to take, so I am not rushing into it straight away, I will wait and see what the response is from them, then hopefully try and get an appointment with the GP which in itself is not always easy, but failing that I would be prepared to purchase it privately if need be.
Thank you for your reply. I'm on Letrozole and no matter what I do I can't lose weight! I was going to go to the GP as I'm hoping to have a DEIP reconstruction soon and want to make sure I have the best BMI. I don't have an onco nurse so would need to see the GP.
Good luck and thanks again!
