Well I've have a lumpectomy and radiotherapy ... noone has actually said anything about the above...

Until I know the answer I am refused travel insurance

I desperately want to go to see my bro in Oz

Feel so disheartened Pensive

Can anyone advise?

  • Hi

The group which  mentioned is the travel insurance group where you'll find lots of recommendations for travel insurers to try.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined have a look through the threads there called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' and Recommended travel insurance 2023-24', which you'll find on the first page. They are full of recommendations from other cancer patients who have got travel insurance.

As others have said, the best thing to do is to have a word with your consultant or breast cancer nurse and ask if they consider that the cancer has been removed or destroyed. You can then honestly answer the question.

Wishing you all the best and I hope you can soon travel to Australia to see your brother.

  • Great advice already, but I’d add to phone the various companies and speak to their advisers as the on line forms aren’t that specific for us bc souls.

Hope you get sorted. Always good to compare, too, and keep a list of what prices and any exclusions.

  • Anne,

Many thanks, will give them a go

  • Hi, if you have finished your treatment and you are signed off as far as the hospital are concerned you are absolutely fine to say that you are cancer free at this point. Just tick the box. I have taken advice on this myself previously (from my breast surgeon) and that’s what I was told. I’ve had no problems at all travelling extensively on my bank account insurance having fully declared all my treatment. All the best xx

  • Hi Zizzie,

if you ask your oncologist for a ‘fit to travel’ letter, they will be able to do that.
