Looking for advice on how to manage the pain in my hands and feet please following chemo. My hands and heels are so swollen and are red raw. I’ve tried Eurex, E45, sudocrem, avedo, moogoo and neutrogena, all with very little relief.
I wonder if a call to your BCN might be of help. I was advised to use E45 and massage my breasts etc. Different treatments give different side effects and so you need medical advice. The MacMillan help line is also a good source of advice.
All the very best and keep trying 2 b strong!!
Please follow ricki 's advice and call someone tomorrow. I can recognise your symptoms as I had similar. I thought this was normal and did nothing but by my next chemo, I had had a severe reaction. The skin burning which you are sensing resulted in layers of skin peeling away and I could hardly walk for a few weeks. There would have been treatment.....and creams won't help.....if I had contacted them. You may be prescribed gabapentine. Also B12 helps the foot nerves in a way I don't understand but it does.My damage was permanent because I delayed. I now have several destroyed nerves in my feet and see the neurologist every six months. I take a concoction of B vitamins and 1000mg of gabapentine daily but still get the strange foot sensations and pains plus leg cramps.
Hopefully your reaction isn't quite so severe and also , if you deal with it tomorrow, it will be soon enough to be helped. Do not let anyone dismiss this without actually seeing you. I know some doctors say things like....it will go in two to three months and for many people it will but someone must check your situation first.
Let us know how you get on.
Just to say , I may have neuropathy but my cancer diagnosis was in 2015. The treatment has kept the cancer....a TNBC.....away.
