I was diagnosed on May 9th and start EC chemo tomorrow, I'm going to try the cold cap but in preparation I had a lot cut off my hair today. As I wrote in my resilience diary tonight ,I looked at the quote on tomorrow's page and it seems very poignant so I thought I'd share it.
Take care everyone
Sarah
I’m feeling ok thank you. I had 9 sessions of paclitaxal and carboplatin and did lose some hair but nothing noticeable. After 2 EC’s my hair is a lot thinner and lots of bald patches I am trying to conceal. I have one EC left on 4th Aug so really hope i don’t lose much more hair, just need it to hold out a little longer. I will still use the cold cap for my last session. I think it was my fault for washing it so soon after (which I did on the previous drug and it was fine) not realising this is a harsher drug and my hair is dryer and more prone to breaking.
Do try the cold cap, just remember to be gentle with your hair too.
That’s fantastic about the tumour Sarah (not so fantastic about the hair of course). EC is a very strong drug so at least we can be confident that it is killing any sign of cancer in our bodies xx
That's good news re the tumour. Mine is the same grade.
I'm two days after my first EC. Have felt very nauseous but slightly less so today. Think i might be getting constipated (TMI) but taking docusate sodium to deal with that. Not feeling as bad as I expected but realise a lot more effects could appear over the next two weeks. I tried the cold cap but it made me feel very nauseous (disappointing) so mentally prepared for a shiny head .......cover ups ready. Maybe a wig.......where did you find your lovely one?
That's the one good thing isn't it. I'm still slightly worried about what side effects might still appear .....I'm only two days past first EC. So far so good I think.
I tried the cold cap but it made me very nauseous. I won't do it next time as I cut the after time short so hair will sadly go. I've got head covers. Hoping it will grow back eventually, if not it will a wig/head cover. I just rinsed the conditioner out and haven't done anything more. Just waiting for the drop to start.....
Happy tears, big fan of happy anything, thank you and everyone else for keeping us updated on this thread, I'm going in for my 2nd surgery soon and will probably be having chemo after that. And this chat has helped soothe my anxiety so much. When I read your message I shouted to my family" Sarah has happy tears yeah" hahaha
Sorry to hear that, it's so different for everyone. I got my wig from Amazon, I checked the reviews and saw customer photos which were helpful.
I get constipation too, make sure you drink plenty of water, I use Senna as its a bit more gentle. For me it gets better after finishing the steroids.
You'll feel better pretty soon hopefully.
Take care
You might be ok, remain positive and try not to worry, don’t think about it and carry on as normal. I felt ok day after, felt sick the day after that, a little constipation but soon went, body achey and I did feel tired.
