Hello my lovlies
Has anybody considered or gone back on HRT after hormone positive cancer (low stage/no lymph nodes)
If so what was your reason?
I am seriously considering it as my mental health is becoming dangerous, toxic and a big concern for loved ones.
Hello Mrs Cor10
I had hormone positive cancer, but wasn't on HRT, so can't give you any advice - I would recommend speaking to your oncologist, or your breast cancer nurse.
In the meantime, as no-one was around at the time you posted this question and it's dropped to page 3, hopefully someone who's been in your situation can give you a bit of advice as by answering I'm popping your post back to the top of page 1
Kindest wishes, Lesley
Hello Mrs Cor10
I am sorry to hear that you are struggling at the moment.
My cancer was endometrial but was positive for oestrogen and progesterone. The advice I was given was that any HRT could potentially feed a recurrence of my cancer and encourage it to grow. However mine was high grade (although lower stage) However I was also told that it was a very much individual decision to make and would be a risk vs benefits decision.
Due to you struggling with your mental health and also yours being a low grade cancer perhaps it would be a good plan to make an appointment to discuss your own situation. It may well be that they can go through your own personal risk/benefits and so that you can make an informed decision. One other thing that may be an option is to discuss whether a lower dose patch may be a safer alternative as from my understanding after speaking with my CNS there can be different types and some may be more suitable than others.
I did not go onto HRT as for me the risk outweighed any potential benefit and I was not getting symptoms that were unmanageable for me.
So I would encourage you to speak to your doctor about how you are feeling.
Please also remember the Support Line is there if you are struggling.
