Breast pain

I had breast lumptectomy surgery 3 weeks ago and still have pain in my breast near nipple and under my arm. My under part of upper arm is also very sensitive and sore to touch.

The stitching has opened slightly on my breast so this may be attributing to pain, but how long should one have this pain from a lumptectomy?

  • It’s probably the nerves waking back up giving the pain which is usually sharp stabbing pain. Bruising also can cause pain , is the breast leaking from the opening in the stitches ? Get it all checked as it’s easy for infection to start especially if the stitches have opened up.
mine took at least 4-5 weeks for the bruising to subside.

are you also doing your exercises ?

  • Hi, the surgeon did a T shaped stitch and the opening is where the vertical stitch meets the horizontal one (T junction). Told this is the weakest point. Have been doing my exercises every day. I'm seeing my surgeon on Wed and hope there is no infection. Saw a nurse last Wed who cleaned the area with iodine and re-dressed it but I have red blotches on my breast so think I may be allergic to the iodine used.

  • Are allergic to shellfish ? Shouldn’t use iodine if you are

  • No, not allergic to shellfish
