Fibroadenoma removal

Hi Slight smile

I am 33 and have had a fibroadenoma for 7 years. It has had an ultrasound 3 times and because I am now over 30 I was offered a biopsy. I was at the breast clinic for something else which was all fine and they offered to do it for "reassurance purposes" but advised nothing concerning on ultrasound. Since then I have received a call to advise me that they want me to come in to discuss removing, the secretary told me the consultant told me not to worry and they have not found anything concerning.

I am just wanting to hear other peoples positive (if possible as I am anxious) experiences with having their fibroadenoma removed and the reasons why this was offered. Until my appointment I wont know if this is just an option or whether it is recommended and if so, why which is causing a little worry.

Thank you

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I don't have any experience with having a fibroadenoma removed, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I've done a search in the group and found these posts which mention fibroadenoma for you to have a look through. You could respond to any where you think the poster/s could help you further.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
