Hi,

Hope you are all coping . One week after round 4 and finally feeling ok. Round 5 - and different chemo next (EC and VERY nervous).

My question is this- is anyone else literally thirsty with unquenchable thirst. I literally cannot slake it. I can only drink fizzy water (usually a Diet Coke fiend but I can’t taste it).
driving me crazy!

love to all x

  • Hi Golightly. I normally drink sparkling water with some lime in but ANY bubbles cause a chewing a cheese grater sensation these days.

What was your 1st chemo? Nosey aren't I?

Might be something & nothing with the thirst but I'm diabetic and that's how I was diagnosed. Mention it to your medics JUST IN CASE  I hope it's a big fat nothing but I'll be worrying if I don't say it.

    Take care hun

Keep well everyone (and that's a order!) Love & hugs xxx

  • Hi , you’re not nosy! I am having my 5th treatment on Thursday (29/5). I have had 4 lots of paclitaxel and am switching to EC and I’m nervous. Some rubbish days, got more tired in the last 2 treatments , more aches and some nausea and nosebleeds. Everyone is likecwhoohoo 50% done and yes, it’s good to be half way through but still seems a long way to go. Some times (mostly) I am super positive, some days fed up. I have my chemo every two weeks so started mid April and will finish Mid July. How about you?
    Hope you’re doing ok x

  • Had my 1st EC on 15th. On 20th I had a sore mouth & throat so emailed my GP asking about mouth ulcers. Was invited to pop in with 30/45 minutes. Then sent to A+E with query sepsis.... 4½ hours later, it was surprisingly, mouth ulcers. Cost me a fortune in cab fares to be told salt wash & Corsodyl....

+7 days and SEEMS to have healed. In time for more chemo next week. But at least I've the mouth wash ready.

Have you mentioned the thirst thing to anyone yet or has it cleared up? If it has , I'd still mention it. It might be something that just needs a eye keeping on it. JUST IN CASE

Keep well everyone (and that's a order!) Love & hugs xxx

  • Thank you. Were you ok apart from the horrid ulcers? I have had a sore throat and ears on paclitaxel but no ulcers. I saw my oncologist today and mentioned being thirsty - he said my bloods were all fine so don’t worry and it’s a common side effect so that’s good. He said EC makes you more tired so that’s all I will just sleep through it all! They think I have a clot in the vein my Picc line is in but are not worried- am on bloodthinners anyway as I have had clots in the past. So now I feel like a hypochondriac….

anyway. Hoping you’re having a good day! Xx

  • Hi Golightly

I AM SO GLAD YOUR BLOODS WERE NORMAL. (Having diabetes & chemo is bad enough, I've only had 1 session so far and it's already knocked my blood sugars completely out of wack. Doubled on day +1, then half of what I normally got and hypo's every time I blinked!) but the thought of being needy lying diagnosed and having chemo at the same time..... At least the constant blood tests are good for something

I hope the suspect clot takes the heat not and sorts itself. I've a portacath and I keep checking the area, I had the DVT message rammed down my throat by medics & daughter in law... She's had 2. No cancer or even long haul flights. Shed been on the pill for 3 months and got her 1st. She was in hospital for MONTHS so please be careful

Me? Been slightly more knackered than usual but seeing as I'm awake every 90 minutes (because of spine & leg pain, absolutely nothing cancer related) but nothing too bad... Yet anyway

Keep well everyone (and that's a order!) Love & hugs xxx

  • Oh goodness you are having such a time! I hope it eases for you. Just off for my first EC now and anxious. It will be what it will be and it’s all in a good cause I keep thinking…..

    take care xx

  • Hope you go ok

    Keep well

    xxx
