Prior to my surgery i had chemo and lost weight. When the chemo had to be stopped due to adverse reactions to it the weight loss continued even though i was eating well.
I had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove a 4.5cm tumour and 22 lymph nodes. Since then the weight is going up at around 1lb per day. Did anyone else have this happen?
My diet hasnt changed nor has my mobility. Its like my body has suddenly changed its calorie requirements.
Hi, I wonder if that is what has happened - your body has changed its requirements. I remember asking oncology if chemo continued to work for a while after stopping. They said that for my chemo, it was about 3 - 4 weeks. Chemo destroys good cells as well as bad ones, and I guess the body uses energy to try to replace those good cells, but whilst on chemo, you continue to lose these cells, so it’s no wonder we get tired! Now you aren’t in chemo and had surgery three weeks ago, things have changed perhaps. That’s just my guess, someone will likely come on with a more educated answer.
