  • Hello, I was given an elasticated plastic waterproof cover by my hospital to be used for showers. I wasn’t given a daily fabric cover, but you can buy these online, and I think that some charities offer them (I’m not sure if they are free). Someone else might respond with some more specific details of websites, but if you Google ‘PICC line covers’ then a number of sites pop up.

  • Hi, daughter was given a form to take to her GP to instruct them to give her a prescription for waterproof picc line cover for showering. Seemed a very roundabout way - why doesn't the hospital pharmacy provide them? But it wasn't a problem.

She did buy several picc line covers from Etsy but none fitted as well as the 'tubular' one they covered it with after each chemo. She mostly stuck with that.

Best of luck with treatment. xx

  • Hi TTK.  I ordered the waterproof PICC shower covers directly. The company verified the prescription with my GP and they were delivered to my house. I got the VAP2 size because that’s what they gave me in the hospital but it seems about right for my PICC. Details on leaflet photos below - I used their website to order. They came in about 5 days and that was over a bank holiday.

For daily PICC covers I used PICCPals - free to patients and run by volunteers. Such a lovely service delivered by volunteers so I made a donation. Hope this helps!

  • I just asked nurse at hospital to put a fabric cover over picc line and was also given a stretch net cover at Bishop auckland hospital.  The fabric helps stop it sticking out. They were very helpful.
