Hi everyone I am due to have my surgery very soon and am unsure of what size bras to get. I am currently a 38 H but am having a reduction and uplift on both sides along with the tumour removal. Does anyone have any advice please?

  • Hi  , they are expensive but macom do a bra that expands to your size (you buy according to your back). They are compression bras, designed for post surgery. Otherwise, (or also) maybe ask your bcn / consultant about what size you should go for - I guess the surgeon has an idea how much tissue is being removed.
good luck! Hope it goes well x

  • Hi

i had lumpectomy, therapeutic mammoplasty and right side reduction last May. I was 38G. I bought post surgery bras from Sainsbury’s which zipped up at the front, and I was given a free one with hooks by my nhs trust. I bought my existing size. They were lovely and soft. I also bought some crop tops. I think they were a size 16. I used these until after my radiotherapy in January since that can cause shrinkage. In March I was measured at M&S , my cup size is down to a D. I am very pleased with the results.

  • Hi - i had this operation 2 weeks ago - and was in same position re bras - i was a 36h and bought a selection of sizes from m&s / cancer research and asda which i took to the hospital and kept the labels on all of them so i could return if no good.      The winner for me was breast cancer research post surgery comfort bra in large size - they do not sell in cup sizes as have a lot of stretch (i am now a D cup Slight smile ). They are made from bamboo so nice and soft too,

Your BCN can also give a lot of advice re bras (and they may even supply/ fit you in one when you come out of surgery.

    Good luck with operation.

  • Thank you for your reply. I’m really excited to get some much smaller boobs hopefully along with getting rid of the cancer x
