Elevated liver again

Hi everyone. It’s happened again, had 4 sessions of paclitaxal and carboplatin and my blood test has returned as elevated liver. This happened after 2nd session too. I’m feeling really down about it as really want to just crack on with it and feel like it’ll never end now.

Also the oncologist said this particular drug is most effective when taken weekly so now I’m thinking this is going to have a detrimental effect on me.

Has this happened several times to anyone else? They said they will speak with the pharmacist etc and I know they can reduce/change dosages etc but I’m still going to be missing Mondays and that will be the second one I’m missing.

  • Yes all this is normal.
    I had one delayed and 2 omitted…

Unfortunately, chemo can affect so many diff parts of our bodies and nothing we can do to stop it.

Just try and keep going - I know it’s disheartening but you will get there.

Having pax every week is quite normal too. You do feel like you’re at the hospital a lot but it soon ends and you’re on to the next part of your journey.

Are you on pembro? It could also be that which is affecting your liver. It affected mine and they stopped it. I still had elevated levels but nothing got stopped or omitted after this.

    Good luck x

  • Thank you, it’s just annoying I’m being set back again.

No, not on pembro, it’s just the paclitaxal and carboplatin at the moment. I’ve had 4 sessions of 9.

  • Yes. I get it.
Unfortunately the set backs are normal.

I have just started on cape and I could get set back on them which is frustrating but it’s managing the good and the bad.

It’ll probably be the pac which is causing it to elavate. They may reduce the dose.

Fingers crossed it comes down soon. I was on steroids for 5 weeks to reduce mine…
