I am 56 and been diagnosed with grade 2 breast cancer.

Not sure how to deal with it...had an MRI scan last week and due back at hospital next Wednesday

I've been made redundant as well. I can't claim any benefits as my partner earns too much but won't help me financially so I'm feeling quite low.

  • Hi Berry

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you've lost your job.

If you feel up to it, why not give the Macmillan helpline a ring on 0808 808 0000 to talk to someone about how you are feeling, they will also be able to give you advice on finances.

Wishing you the best of luck with the results of your mri.

    Best wishes

  • Hi polly

My partner is very particular on what he spends his money on, he sees it has his and  not overly wanting to share it, I do appreciate it is his money but I won't be able to manage without his help

Good luck with your plan, I've got another appointment next Wednesday x

  • Hey berry , think maybe he’s going to have to start helping you ..you don’t need that worry as well as the cancer, it’s a scarey place we are all in and each of us needs help and guidance from people and just someone to chat to this site has been so helpful I was a complete mess when I found out totally fell apart but chatting to these loverly people has given me hope , and I hope it helps you too .. thankyou for the good luck , it’s what we need …Polly xx

  • Hi Polly

    • Yes he will have to step up but probably won't like it but I see how it goes, I do feel like my world is at a standstill and I have good days and bad but I haven't told my daughter because she is now doing her GCSEs.
  • Hi Berry , only you two can sort this out but if the shoe was on the other foot I’m sure you would help him .. yes you will I was having more bad days in the beginning but to be honest most days still are bad , I’m not surprised you haven’t told your daughter , my grandchildren don’t know yet I will tell them when I start treatment .. that way I can tell them I have cancer but am getting treated ..
