Feeling very anxious waiting for biopsy results and just wondering if anyone has ever been called in earlier for their results appointment and had it be good news?
Little bit of background I had my biopsies on Fri 25th April through triple assessment and had an apt booked in at the clinic to receive my results on the 9th May. I was told it was possible that I could get an earlier phone call to tell me if the results were good and I no longer needed to attend the appointment.
Yesterday (Fri 2nd May) I got a phonecall from the hospital saying my results were 'going to be back sooner' and could I go to the Clinic today (Sat 3rd) Unfortunately I can't go today so they have booked me in for Tuesday but I'm in a bit of a spiral thinking it can't be anything good for them to phone me and try and get me in the next day.
Anyone had anything similar ?
Unfortunately nothing similar , I’m not sure they give any results over the phone good or bad. However im leaning towards the better news being the outcome. In my case i had a two week wait to find out I had a malignancy but still had to wait a further week to find out the receptors.
Your mind is bound to spiral and if it’s good news they may have waited you to know earlier.
just my pov however.xxx
Hi Lily2024 , it’s so horrible when you’re trying to second guess why they’ve called/ not called/ invited you in early etc. I feel that somehow you just have to try to assume that the earlier appointment is simply because the results are back and they’re trying to make use of any earlier slots to help get people seen asap and to keep clinic lists full. Easier said than done, I know! Two of my experiences might help a little: I was told after a recent biopsy that I might get a phone call, they might tell me on the phone, they might call me in to explain in person, or I might just get a letter! The message was, don’t read anything into whatever contact I had with the breast clinic! My situation was different in that the surgeon was almost certain that the skin lesion on my nipple that he had biopsied was nothing of concern. And it was on the opposite side to the treated breast (I’m over 6 years post diagnosis). In the end I had to try to ‘park it’ and I got a letter a couple of weeks later saying all ok. But of course I was checking my phone very regularly and practically stalking the postie.
My other experience was down the other end. Some very light ‘spotting’, speedy GP appointment (I’m very post menopausal) and referral for gynae scan. I got a call the next day and an appointment the day after. I was sure they thought it was something bad but nothing was found and, when I queried the speedy appointment, they said they really do everything to make sure daily clinic lists are full. So they probably had a cancellation and got me in to fill the slot.
I know the days will drag but Tuesday will eventually roll around and you’ll know what you’re dealing with. Sending love and a big virtual hug, HFxx
Thank you so much hopefully filling clinics is the reason- that actually does make sense but I think our kinds automatically think this worst
