Shoulder Blade Pain

I had a lumpectomy last September, followed by 15 sessions of radiotherapy in November. I have suffered with fatigue ever since. However, I also get terrible aching in my shoulder blades whenever I have been doing any exercise. It really knocks me sick, and  I just want to cry with it, until I get home and can lie down/relax. I have been told it could be the letrozole, although that's normally the joints effected, or it could be scar tissue from the radiotherapy which was aimed at three places - the left breast, under my right arm, and the bottom of my neck. I am so fed up with the aching pain. It can hit me just shopping if I have walked round the store a bit. Has anyone else had anything similar

  • Hi  , sorry to read this - I am wondering if you have some nerve damage? Do you only get pain in your shoulder? During radiotherapy I developed a very sharp pain in the middle of my shoulder - breath taking sharp - that came on from certain movements. Eventually it came to a point where the pain was constant. One of the worst pains I have ever experienced. It spread down my arm  and also led to numbness / tingling. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my neck and compressed nerve root and eventually what the physio called a ‘double crush’ where the nerve was also being pinched in the shoulder too. I think it was triggered by being very tense during radiotherapy.
I saw a dr who prescribed meds but it was the physio who got to the bottom of everything and has really helped resolve things. So may be worth seeing your GP at least?
hope it feels better soon x

    • Thank you for that. I am currently having physiotherapy for my neck which also started causing me problems after radiotherapy. I have to say that does seem to be working so I'll mention my shoulder blades
  • Yes - it may all be connected / part of the same injury. Hope you can get it sorted x
