Hi. My oncologist put my referral in on Tuesday to start chemotherapy at Mount Vernon hospital. I’m just wondering if anyone has any idea on timeframes? I’ve found the waiting for every op, appointment, result so hard and now waiting again to find out when this will start and what will happen is really tough as I’m so scared and just want to get started. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated xx

    1. Hi. I hate needles but they are so gentle and it is bearable. With the cold cap I am there about 6 hours. People have different concoctions so timesces vary. They don't keep you hanging around in Blackpool cos you have an appointment. I've even got in earlier. Side effects vary. Listen to your body and don't overdo things. Take one day at a time.  Let friends help you. I'm on 6 out of 7. Then surgery in June. Good luck x
  • Ps ask for a free car parking pass. Saved me a fortune x

  • Thank you. I’m a wreak just waiting to find out when my first appointment is??? I’m debating the cold cap as apparently (from reading up) on EC-T it doesn’t really work so that will be my next question for advice xx

  • Hi twiggy 'I'm also waiting since finding out about prostrate cancer, been waiting since January, so difficult to find out when radiotherapy will start, it's like everything is on hold, so frustrating, all the best

    • What a journey, I've had to buy a 1.5 tog duvet due to hot sweats, then wake up cold FireSnowflakeabsoabsolutely agree with you 100 percent about waiting for appointment GrimacingGrimacingGrimacingGrimacingallall best

  • Ask the chemo nurses for advice about the cold cap. They are the experts. You could try it. The hat is very tight and a bit uncomfortable. I had to stop using it after 3 months as my hair had dropped out on top. I'm told it will grow back and possibly thicker. Temu have some nice head gear and very cheap. X
