Hello. Just wanted some advice please. I have second chemo tomorrow. My hair is very dry and my scalp is peeling (I’ve always suffered with this) and would usually give it a good scrub to remove it all.
However obviously scrubbing is not recommended when cold capping which is fine but I was thinking of washing my hair tonight, brushing it all through, smoothing it out with lots of conditioner (it’s very frizzy) in readiness for tomorrow then I would wash it tomorrow night after the cold capping as required.
Is this too excessive to wash it today and tomorrow? I really want to save as much hair as I can but I read that the dry scalp can act as a barrier between the cold cap and the scalp hence wanting to wash it today too.
Any experience with this? I know I might be reading too much into this as cold capping isn’t guaranteed anyway but I’m struggling with having horrible hair all the time when I’d usually be using heat, regular deep conditioning treatments etc.
Hello
This is my experience of scalp cooling.

I stuck to the Paxman advice of washing it only twice a week and it was successful for me.
I would not personally have washed it 2 days running. I did use dry shampoo sometimes. I also would not wash my hair after the chemo day but just rinse it through in the shower. I also used children's leave in conditioner and found it helped.
I do sympathize- mine did look bad at times but the aim was to keep my hair and encourage regrowth- and it did.
