I know the advice used to be to avoid the above on.the affected side. However, I have recently seen information on line saying that this is no longer necessary unless you have been diagnosed with lymphedema or have a history of it. I have a condition that causes pain on my unaffected side & hence I wld much rather have injections on my affected (ie breast cancer side). I had 3 nodes removed.
Can anyone clarify the position or say what advice they have been given on this?
Hi, I try to avoid the affected side, though I have had bloods taken from it, with the agreement of my oncologist, when they couldn't get any other veins. Maybe ring the lovely team at Macmillan on 0800 808 0000 and have a chat with them about this. Best wishes
