Hi I had mastectomy and reconstructive surgery over 6 weeks ago ...left breast only ... went for check up with consultant on Tuesday... a red patch has appeared and breast still feels swollen and uncomfortable... I did call the the breastcare nurses as soon as I noticed it ( about a week before my booked appointment) but was just told to wait until I saw consultant, I also mentioned it again 4 days prior to my appointment when I went in for physio appt but was told again to wait until my appointment as was no-one available to look at it .
So on my appointment consultant asked how long it had been like that and when I told him he seemed annoyed but I let him know that I had infact mentioned it twice .
Anyway he didn't say much after that but just prescribed a course of antibiotics ( I know I should have asked more but not very good at that )
The antibiotics are from what I later googled quite a strong dose 500mg x2 4 times a day .
I am now stressing myself out thinking about it ( I have appointment on 10th to see him again)
I know lots on here have been through much more than me as I didn't have to have any other treatment apart from hormone pills for next 5 years .
But the thought of possible having to go back into surgery to have implant removed is stressing me and I am now thinking maybe best not to have another implant... ... ???
Has anyone else had similar experience ???
Hi Lindaloustar
